Bedrooms can be maddening. It’s the one place in your home that you really need to be comfortable or your sleep will suffer. Sometimes when you’re having trouble sleeping, one of the best things you can do is re-vamp your bedroom to be a more cozy and comfy place. If you’re baffled at how to start the process, take a tip from professional designers and start with one place in your room, the “focal point” or rather – the spot where the eyes will go first when you enter the room. A focal point can be a piece of art, vase of flowers on an accent table or other small table or even the bed in your bedroom.
If you’re curious how to find the focal point in your room, pick up the clutter and get your surfaces as cleared off as possible. Shut your bedroom door and stand outside the room for a moment, then open the door and note the first place your eyes go in the room – you just discovered the focal point of the room. Start in that area and make it pop. Then build outward from your focal point. The idea is to carry the colors and “lines” of the room in a flowing manner. If you have a blank area where there is no piece of furniture or decor accent to “carry” the line or color onward around the room – that is where you need to add something.
Above all, your bedroom should ooze relaxation. Soft colors are usually best in colors such as blues, greens or earth tones which will lend a subdued and relaxing feel to the room.
Add big comfy pillows and use touches of the colors used in your bed in your window treatments and in various places around your room to make the colors carry throughout your interior and you’ll have a completely redone bedroom that is ready to provide restful nights for years to come.
