This year instead of just watching boring old movies and waiting for the doorbell to ring, throw a fun poker party for your friends and neighbors and enjoy a night playing poker with your favorite friends.
If you’ve never put together a poker party, it’s very simple. First of all decide how many people you are going to invite and then either use traditional mail or a service like Evites that lets you create and send invitations to your friend’s email addresses.
Once you have your list of who will be coming, put together your foods for the night. Finger-friendly snacks are the best. Use your own best judgment, you know what your friends like best. Some people enjoy meatballs on toothpicks, chips and dips, sliced veggies and dressing to dip them in. If you would rather undergo elective surgery without anesthesia, you can order out for pizza or other take out yummies. There is no wrong way to plan a party!
A couple of hours before your get together, set up your poker table and get out your poker chips, cards and have your game ready to go when your guests arrive. Thirty minutes to an hour before your guests arrive start setting out the foods and get glasses and drinks ready. Set up a large trash can in the corner of the room to collect used plates, glasses, etc and you’ll have very little clean up to do.
