Using a Console Table as an Impact Piece

There are old school interior designers grabbing their chests and falling over, but yes, you can use a table as an impact in a room. It needs to be something usual and eye-catching however.

If you have a room that you just feel is lacking “something”, rev up the decor volume and add an impact piece. It can not only be an usual table, but also something along the lines of a sculpture or an unusual artwork on a wall and then make your room design expand from that point.

Ask yourself, “What will the viewer see the minute they walk into the room?” and make that piece your impact piece. A great place to start is the wall directly across from the entrance to the room as most people tend to look straight ahead when they enter a room rather than side to side. If you put something bright and otherwise eye-catching in that spot – BAM! You have your impact piece.

Think color, think shape and think function when you’re putting together an impact piece. If your room is on the smallish side, go for something with function and style, like a console table. If you have a little more room to work with, choose something like an art piece or a shelving display to show off your photos or collectibles.

There is no wrong way to do an impact piece – as long as you’re creating a point of interest in your room – mission accomplished.
