Accent Tables Make Your Room Sing!

You can spend thousands of dollars having your room redone – however if you don’t have good accents around the room – your design won’t flow and will essentially flop. Confused about choosing accents? Just remember the base effect of an accent is to reflect a desired mood within your room or carry a color scheme.

If highlighting a color in your decor is your goal . Using accents is a great way to bring up a color and make your major colors in the room work even more. For example, if you have an olive green sofa, you can choose to use pillows as accents in either a color that will blend with the color of the sofa – such as a member of the green family or earth tones; or you can opt to have a completely contrasting color for your pillows and pair brightly colored pillows on an olive green sofa.

An area rug can also work as an accent to pull a design scheme together. Additionally, many decorators choose colors for the room from the humble area rug and then build outward from that point – it’s a great way to have a limited color pallet that is easy to match.

If it’s impact you want to make, put a striking accent in the room in a central place. A small accent table with an eye catching statue or single artwork on an easel will make a wonderful way to add a little sizzle to the room.

Use these tips and create some accents in your room; you’ll find you have a room that looks truly designer touched.
