The Story of Bombe Chests

Bombe chests came into being in 18th century France during what is known as the Regency period. This was a time when French furniture maker started to experiment with shapes other than the strictly classical designs which had been popular till then. One of the many outcomes of this experimentation was the Bombe chests with their very curved and full lines with lacquered and had painted decoration. By the middle of the century they were prized possession of the French aristocracy. Modern Bombe chests still follow the old design and decoration parameters but are available in a variety of sizes and shades to suit the décor of your home.
